#294 (parched)

your light dimmed

and soon stopped shining

once you’d wandered

onto the tainted soil

of the salt desert, too far

every step draining

your bleak heart like

the merciless sun dries

the well that lost its spring

I wish I could have granted

you a few sips of my waterskin

but you’d been to far into

the barren land already

for my humid words to reach

your ears damaged beyond repair

by the grinding of separation
