#513 (pooling strength)

let us be

rocks in the currents

of recurring violence,

platforms for unsteady

feet, to face the floods of

anger with aligned centers,

towers for uneasy minds

to gather behind, pooling

strenght in calmer waters.

let us be

nexi  of understanding,

beyond the pettiness

of overbearing leaders

feebly floating for survival,

growing edges if needed

to tear their inflated

egotistical devices

let us collect

love, behind every pebble

negligently discarded shells

and sticks, to hold and

protect the fragile and

the delicate, water lilies

blooming in our wake.

  1. Excellent poem! But you should stick an after-note at the bottom mentioning that the poem is part of the “Against the Next War Movement”. That way I can re-post it and FaceBook it in the name of the Movement.

  2. “growing edges if needed

    to tear their inflated

    egotistical devices”

    Love those lines! This is a solid poem. I like how you extend the core image through the whole poem. It’s a good image, and it handles being used that way.

  3. let us be

    rocks in the currents

    of recurring violence,
